{"id":5325,"date":"2024-07-16T12:00:19","date_gmt":"2024-07-16T12:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forresters-staging.boldtype.website\/upc-one-year-in-a-brief-commentary\/"},"modified":"2024-09-27T13:32:25","modified_gmt":"2024-09-27T13:32:25","slug":"upc-one-year-in-a-brief-commentary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forresters-staging.boldtype.website\/de\/upc-one-year-in-a-brief-commentary\/","title":{"rendered":"UPC one year in &#8211; a brief commentary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UPC has been busy since its doors opened in June 2023, with more than 60 infringement actions and more than 25 revocation actions.&nbsp; There have also been over 100 orders and decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As expected, a significant number of opt-outs have been registered while patentees wait to see the outcome of the initial UPC decisions.\u00a0 There have been a significant number of requests for UPs, with many patentees wishing to take advantage of the cost savings associated with the UP for coverage in 17 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Significantly, English is quickly becoming the main language of the UPC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Court has also been praised for its efficiency and speed of making decisions, even in complex cases, and its value for money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proceedings a significantly frontloaded and mainly in writing, which is similar to the EPO opposition process.&nbsp; Our Forresters UPC representatives have significant experience in handling EPO opposition proceedings, and so is well placed to handle UPC proceedings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UPC has been busy since its doors opened in June 2023, with more than 60 infringement actions and more than 25 revocation actions.&nbsp; There have also been over 100 orders and decisions.
