Lara Weaver
Trainee Patent Attorney
Lara joined the Forresters in September 2020, and is working towards becoming a European and UK Patent Attorney.
During her time at Forresters, Lara has been extensively involved in prosecuting both European and UK patent applications.
Her technical background is in both biochemistry and the molecular sciences. In particular, she has a firm understanding of protein biochemistry, cell signalling, metabolic pathways, and genetics.
Lara works with clients of all sizes, ranging from individual inventors to international associates to secure patent protection in Europe and the UK.
After graduating from Cardiff University with a degree in Biochemistry, Lara decided to further her studies by completing a postgraduate degree in Clinical Biochemistry. Her thesis aimed to use the CRISPR-Cas9 technology to assess the functional characteristics of potential cancer driver genes.
Outside of work, Lara enjoys visiting museums and galleries and also takes part in a variety of sports from running to skiing.
