As an early adopter of the European Patent Office’s MyEPO online services, Forresters has passed on its efficiency benefits to clients for the last two years.
In the first quarter of 2024, Forresters ranked seventh in Europe among the most frequent patent law firm users of the MyEPO Portfolio service.
MyEPO is a suite of secure online services which makes it easier for patent applicants, opponents and representatives to manage their business with the EPO. MyEPO Portfolio allows users to interact with the EPO during EP, UP and PCT proceedings.
Forresters began using the MyEPO Portfolio service in June 2022 and we have passed on the benefits of the service to our clients ever since.
Aga Gabarczyk, Forresters’ operations manager, administers the MyEPO service for the firm. She said: “Using MyEPO suite of services has enhanced our internal efficiency, increasing the processing speed of all incoming EPO communication and filings.
“The new web-based platform utilises multi-factor authentication and is therefore very secure. It enables us to access the Mailbox and filing services from anywhere at any time, allowing for effective handling of urgent or last-minute matters, even outside of core working hours.
“Using the electronic Mailbox results in little to no delay in our clients receiving important communications relating to their European patent matters, saving time for both our clients and our team.
“Taking over matters from third parties is now much more straightforward, requiring less direct communication with previous representatives, further cutting down on wait and processing times. The register alert system has also been a key benefit, providing our team with automatic notifications which we can then immediately pass on to our clients.

“It’s worth mentioning that MyEPO now also includes a free-of-charge transfer of right service, which brings the direct benefit of, in some instances, massive cost savings to our clients.
“As an early adopter of the new system, Forresters has been able to pass on these efficiency benefits to our clients for some time now, and we look forward to continuing to provide a reliable and dependable level of service in the future.”
On 1 July 2024 the EPO decommissioned more of its legacy EPO online services, including mailbox, My Files and Administration, as part of its modernisation of online services.
